Outlook for Windows 11 (and Windows 10) will have a completely new look. The Outlook client will be replaced next year. A public preview is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
Microsoft is also involved in the creation multiple desktop clients to support services like OneNote or Outlook, just as other tech companies. Microsoft has confirmed that it will unify OneNote’s experience on Windows. Microsoft also plans to consolidate Outlook’s lineup.
Microsoft has been working internally to create a new Outlook client on Windows 10/11. This project is called «Project Monarch». The new Outlook client is part of Microsoft’s «One Outlook» vision. It will eventually replace existing Mail and Calendar apps, which are available on Windows 11 or 10.
It seems that we will get an Outlook client sooner than anticipated. The first preview will likely be released in this year’s Windows 11 launch.
Microsoft’s One Outlook client that was leaked online earlier in the year has been updated. Now it is simply called «Outlook» with an beta label. This suggests that a public preview may soon be available.
You can see Outlook has a new loading animation in the GIF below. This animation is very similar to the one on the web.
Outlook’s new client is compatible with Windows, macOS, as well as the web. Outlook’s new app will replace all the existing Outlook desktop clients. Outlook desktop client (Win32), UWP, Mail & Calendar and Outlook for Mac will be replaced by the new app.

A new design
Microsoft teased a new outlook for Outlook in the Office suite release notes earlier this year. The screenshot below appears to be an image of an upcoming upgraded web version for Outlook, which Microsoft will bundle with Windows 11 version 22,H2 (next year’s fall update).
Windows 11 will come with the Mail & Calendar App, but it will not be updated.
New Outlook features round corners and new icons.
It’s important that you understand that while the new client may not look exactly like the Microsoft mockup, it could still be very similar.
