Google started rolling out Nearby Share for Android phones in 2020. It’s the answer from Apple’s AirDrop. Other details are now available about the next wireless file-sharing feature.
While this feature can be used with just one person at a given time, it is best to have all the people involved in document sharing contact each other. Google will soon offer the ability to share documents with everyone.
You can share with a few contacts, all contacts, or stay hidden if Nearby Sharing is turned on. The upcoming update will also include the ability to share with everyone, much in the same way that Apple’s AirDrop feature works.
Google will implement a temporary mode to prevent any mischiefs while opening your phone for public sharing. This setting is only available for five minutes, then it will revert to default.

The feature had been in development for some time before the slow rollout last year. There are no solid plans to launch the new update. This could make it risky to introduce a feature like Nearby Share, which requires high security. However, encryption will be included.
